Reversi
Outflank to flip — most discs wins.
About Reversi
Reversi — also known as Othello — is a deep two-player strategy classic on an 8×8 board, rebuilt for one shared screen. Place a disc so that you trap a line of your opponent’s discs between the one you just played and another of yours, and every disc in between flips to your colour. You can only play where you would flip at least one disc, and the board highlights your legal moves. A single move can flip a whole row, so the lead swings back and forth right up to the last square — the corners are gold. When neither player can move, the most discs on the board wins. Easy to learn in a minute, a lifetime to master. Local two-player, fully offline, free and instant.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play Reversi?+
Two players alternate placing discs on one device. A move is only legal if it outflanks — brackets — one or more of your opponent’s discs in a straight line; those discs then flip to your colour. The dots show your legal moves.
Is Reversi the same as Othello?+
Yes — Reversi and Othello use the same flip-by-outflanking rules and 8×8 board. Place to bracket your opponent’s discs and flip them.
How do I win?+
When neither player has a legal move, whoever has the most discs of their colour on the board wins. Controlling the corners, which can never be flipped, is the key strategy.
Is Reversi free and offline?+
Yes — it is local two-player on one screen, completely free, with no download or sign-up.
